Novak says situation in Russia’s fuel market is improving

Among the key measures helping stabilize the market, Novak highlighted the return to operation of a number of refineries following repairs.

The situation with fuel supplies to Russian consumers is improving, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on the sidelines of Russian Energy Week.

According to him, another coordination meeting was held the previous day with representatives of the Ministry of Energy, regional authorities and federal agencies, and the current situation is being assessed much more positively than it was a month or even two weeks ago. Novak expressed hope that this trend would continue.

Among the key measures helping stabilize the market, Novak highlighted the return to operation of a number of refineries following repairs. He also stressed that protection measures at these facilities are being continuously strengthened.

The deputy prime minister also addressed the outlook for oil production. According to him, output will recover and increase to the extent permitted by infrastructure capacity and domestic refining capabilities. Russia also intends to make every effort to meet its OPEC+ quota, although there is currently no certainty regarding the specific timeframe.

As a reminder, on October 4, OPEC+ member countries extended the October production level into November. Under its quota, Russia may produce 9.949 million barrels per day.
