Caspian upgrade: why Astrakhan is becoming the main trade hub for Iran, the Middle East and India

In 2024, cargo throughput at ports in the Astrakhan Region exceeded 6.2 million tonnes, 95% of which was destined for Iran. In 2026, further growth is expected, with throughput projected to reach nearly 8 million tonnes.
