Transneft Baltic Holds Large-Scale Drills at Yaroslavl-3 Oil Pumping Station

The drill involved more than 100 employees of the Yaroslavl-3 PS.

Transneft Baltic has held a comprehensive emergency response drill (CERD) at the Yaroslavl-3 oil pumping station of the Yaroslavl Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate.

The drill involved more than 100 employees of the Yaroslavl-3 PS, the production service shop and the central maintenance division of the Yaroslavl RPD, as well as employees of EMERCOM; about 20 pieces of equipment were used.

The goal was to train workers in near-natural conditions to respond to and eliminate accidents, incidents and failures at pipeline transportation facilities. The drill checks the coherence of interaction between business units in emergency situations, the readiness of personnel to respond promptly to incidents and the ability to contain and eliminate faults within specified timeframes.

According to the drill scenario, a 20,000 m3 tank experienced an oil “release” as a result of gasket damage. The dispatcher promptly “stopped” the station's operation and switched process gate valves to decommission the tank and to pump oil out of it. Emergency response teams contained and eliminated the "spill".

The drill scenario was complicated by additional tasks related to "malfunctions" of mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as simulated injury to personnel.

All the tasks were completed within the specified timeframe, which confirms the high readiness of Transneft Baltic personnel to contain and eliminate emergency situations of various nature.
