Head of Zarubezhneft met with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas

During the conversation, the sides discussed the development of a joint project of Zarubezhneft dedicated to the integration of enhanced oil recovery methods, as well as new promising areas of cooperation.

An official meeting of the General Director of Zarubezhneft Sergey Kudryashov with the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz took place on November 23 in the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment of the Republic of Cuba.

During the conversation, the sides discussed the development of a joint project of Zarubezhneft with its Cuban partners dedicated to the integration of enhanced oil recovery methods at the Boca de Jaruco field, as well as new promising areas of cooperation.

“This year marks 10 years since the start of the Boca de Jaruco project. During this time, we have come a long way: we have drilled 10 wells, and the oil is being produced with a steady upward trend as part of the pilot operation program. And it is very important that all these years the work has been carried out without injury to employees and without incidents with environmental damage,” - said Sergey Kudryashov during the meeting.

The Boca de Jaruco project is high-tech, complex and requiring non-standard solutions. Zarubezhneft uses new developments and equipment from Russian companies capable of operating in an aggressive environment and at high temperatures. Together with the Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University (KFU), a catalytic aquathermolysis technology was developed to provide in-situ upgrading of oil. The company continues to conduct scientific and technological research to improve the efficiency of the project.

At the end of the meeting the parties indicated their mutual interest in further cooperation within the framework of the project.
