Today, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of contract for supplying Russian natural gas to Finland. It was signed on November 19, 1971. Natural gas supplies via the Leningrad — Vyborg — State Border gas pipeline began in 1974 and marked the beginning of the use of this ecological fuel in the energy system of Finland.

The Republic of Finland has become the third country in Western Europe to receive Russian natural gas. For half a century of the cooperation, about 130 billion cubic meters of gas has been imported to Finland.

“Today, we celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the first export contract for gas supplies to Finland. We highly appreciate the results of many years of cooperation, which has made an important contribution to the development of close economic cooperation between our countries, " said Elena Burmistrova, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Director General of Gazprom Export
